Hi Geetha, Besides configurion nsswitch.conf you need to configure /etc/ldap.conf (or something like that, check nss_ldap docs) so it knows to which LDAP server to connect to get user information. Hello all, I have been trying to get my pam_ldap to actually check the host attribute (via pam_check_host_attr yes). However, no matter what I do it will not check it. Here is my config: Openldap 2.2.11 Pam_ldap-169 pam_check_host_attr yes missing (on purpose) a host attribute in my test account but I can still login... Thanks Michael /*************************************/ Unix is a very friendly OS, it is just picky about who it makes friends with... /*************************************/ |

Is it possible yet to have fields with multiple entries, and is it possible yet with the LDAP User Admin module to have multiple-line fields? For instance, I'd like to use this for our HR department to be able to add employees. As a part of this, it would be nice to be able to specify their home address, which will span multiple lines. Also, it would be nice to have multiple entries for some items, like email addresses, in case someone has more than one (personal and business, for instance). Is there a way to do either of these yet? -- Stephen Touset <st...@ik...> |

No matter what I do I can not get even a basic alias to work. It is most frustrating. Has anyone have an example I could view? Here is one example that I tried: dn: cn=mjpelletier,ou=Horde,dc=mjpelletier,dc=com aliasedObjectName: uid=mjpelletier,ou=Users,dc=mjpelletier,dc=com objectClass: top objectClass: alias objectClass: person With yet another error message. This one says ldap_add: Object class violation (65) additional info: invalid structural object class chain (alias/person) Please Help!!!! ---------------------------------------------------------------- This message was sent using IMP, the Internet Messaging Program. |

Hello, I have a few questions. I'm running redhat 7.3 2.4.18-19.7.xsmp. I'm having a ton of issues trying to install the ldap SDK. I can't compile the tar files from the ftp site ( there's no instructions) http://www.mozilla.org/build/unix-details.html#s3 Does anyone have an RPM for 7.3 with perLDAP.... any help you can lend would be great. I really need an easy way to manage my LDAP database. Thanks, Adam |

Your 'user' should be a DN, like 'cn=3DManager,dc=3Dexample,dc=3Dcom' (although possibly if you're using SASL it needn't be, but I don't know about SASL). Base should also be a some sort of structural object, like 'dc=3Dexample,dc=3Dcom'. BTW Fernando, I found a simple problem some time ago I forgot to report; if you disable Outlook schema, the user isn't prompted for the 'givenname' attribute, and due to new_user_ok() checking for it, it's not possible to actually save a new user with Outlook attributes turned off. Hello everybody, I have made important changes in Ldap-users webmin module in order to add features like administration of Samba schemas & LDAP posix groups. I am looking for somebody to test these improvements. You need add Crypt::SmbHash module to your perl distribution and the samba.schema to your Ldap server. Also I have added spanish lang. Hello, I am using redhat 7.2 and have a working LDAP built from the Migrate perl scrips. I got the module configured and it connects to the server, lists all the users, and lets me change passwords of the users I migrated, and ones I created from the command line. When creating or modifying a user I get the following error: add (uid=testuser,ou=People,dc=ecc,dc=edu):Undefined attribute type I am using standard Openldap 2.0.11 and redhat default schemas. I also tried turning off the MS-Outlook fields and got a different error as follows: You must type at least the Login, GID, Shell, Name and Surname I have these fields filled...... Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance..... |

I am running the cvs version without problems. I too am noticing problems with some of the attributes that are used for addressbook stuff. I took a glance at it and figured it was something I did wrong. I am more concerned right now with getting the groups/authentication stuff figured out. I will probably do some work on it sometime soon. If I make some progress on it, I will send you the stuff. Wouldn't be that hard to write I just am at a loss as to > how to stick it in the ldap directory...... Yes this would be easy if you know basic Perl programming and LDAP programming. The LDAP stuff you can learn in a day by reading the perlldap docs, they are very small. The migration scripts create goups under OU=groups,$basedn just like users are created under OU=People,$basedn. If you have not did so, run the migration scripts provided with OpenLDAP so all users and groups from /etc are on the directory and see how simple is one group entry using some LDAP browser like gq. Hi Terry, > Thanks for your response. I am running Redhat 7.1. > Hrm, does perldap work with openldap ? The current CVS code runs on 7.1 (you may install the 6.2 rpm for PerlLDAP) but I had to disable the Address Book (outlook) attributes. The source forge project page tells you how to download from CVS, then you just tar the sorce three, rename the tar archive to wbm extension and install the module using regular webmin procedures. There was some Perl issues (5.5 on RHL 6.2 x 5.6 on RHL 7.1) but there are still issues about OpenLDAP (1.2.x on RHL 6.2 x 2.0.x on RHL 7.1) and these made me disabel the fields. I am still working on these and any help will be wellcome. I did not wish to release 0.0.2 with these unsolved issues, but if more people wish I can release a CVS snapshot as a wbm file.
