Great plugin thanks for all your hard work...
Here are some fairly simple (I think) suggestions that I
think it would be great if they could be introduced into
the program.
1. Firstly, add another Output Variable which states the
compression format of the file that is playing. Maybe
Winamp can pass on this information to your plugin but
even if it doesn't just looking at the extension would
reveal the type.
So for example if an MP3 is playing the output variable
would place onto the LCD the letters "MP3" or similarly it
would display "OGG" if an Ogg file was playing. At the
moment I've hard-coded the letters MP3 into the display
so it looks like this feature exists, however as you can
imagine it won't change when I play a different format
(and then it looks funny).
2. Secondly, it would be great if you could make another
output variable (in the same style that you made the
shuffle and repeat variables) that could show a symbol
or word on the screen when you have pressed "Stop
after current track". I often use this feature from a
remote control I've set up however it's difficult to tell
when the action has been registered by the computer
because there is no feedback on the LCD.
(Just as a note: the "Stop after current track" feature
works in the same way that shuffle or repeat does: first
press- enables the function, second press- disables the
function. This lets you cancel the stop after you've
pressed it the first time, if you then decide you don't
want it to stop after the current track. This is another
reason it gets so difficult to try and work out whether it
will stop or not and displaying it on the screen would be
really helpful)
Just one other thing, in the configuration menu it might
be better to use a listbox to display all the output
variables rather than a pull down box, so you could see
all the codes without having to bring down the list. You
could have the options for that variable to the right of
the list perhaps. Just a thought.
Anyway, thanks for such a great plugin! Hopefully I've
explained the suggestions correctly and perhaps they
could be used in the future? (especially the first two)
I don't think they're very complex so plz at least
consider them...
