Does anybody knows why my hd44780 has only 13 pin?
If this is normal, how do I apply the 14 pin schematics that are there on internet if I only have 13?

  Eventhough I haven't seen such a module yet I see two reasons:
  
  a) the 'contrast pin' VLc is missing
  
  b) the module operates in 4 bit mode only. D4 - D7 not connected.

  I've come accross one display that had 13 pins...
  
  There was no ground on the header. It was directly on the frame.
