You are right, that can be done later. One has to file a support  
request like here:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php? 
func=detail&aid=935688&group_id=1&atid=200001
to get an importable version of the sourceforge mailman archives.

Besides that, I sent a request to subscribe the groups
   gmane.comp.sysutils.lcd4linux.devel
and
   gmane.comp.sysutils.lcd4linux.user

Let's see how fast they are.
