Not sure if this is related to your autoconf stuff but I just got the 
latest version from cvs and now have a problem.
This is the output of the make command:
cd . && aclocal-1.4
aclocal: macro `AM_PATH_PYTHON' required but not defined
make: *** [aclocal.m4] Error 1

Any ideas?
