We are planning to switch to SVN on trac, but I couldn't find the time
to migrate the repository yet.

Well, I don't like the idea of tarballs, because they're out of date as
soon as they are created :-)

Please get yourself a CVS client and use the CVS repo. Basic CVS
handling should be the same as with svn.
