Hi lcd4linux-users, I'm posting this to the users list, because some of you may be interested.... Till Harbaum is currently developing a very cheap and simple USB-to-HD44780 interface. There are no SMD components, so it should be easy to assembly. All parts are very cheap, alltogether should be around $5.
