In Reference to Directly Connecting a HD44780 Compatible LCD to a Parallel Printer Port.... As far as I understand - it should be possible to power most displays from the power given by the LPT Printer port. I'm not referring to the back-light - just the display itself.... In order to do this - one would need to "Switch-On" one of the Control Output pins first - before trying to initialise the Display. By using the "BACKLIGHT" wiring command - I can get power to the LCD - but this seems to happen AFTER the LCD has initialised.... which is then a bit late... - ie - The display stays blank. Any chance of a modification that first Powers up (eg a Pin called "POWER") - and then sends all the initialisation stuff??? It should then be possible to then Power and Drive an LCD from only the Parallel port. -- . . ___. .__ Posix Systems - Sth Africa. e.164 VOIP ready /| /| / /__ mj...@po... - Mark J Elkins, Cisco CCIE / |/ |ARK \_/ /__ LKINS Tel: +27 12 807 0590 Cell: +27 82 601 0496 |
