Well, I must say that I never tried the latest "official" lcd4linxu 
release 0.9.11 with Kernel 2.6

The upcoming 0.10 release is nearly finished, the code seems stable, but 
it lacks documentation. Maybe you wanna try the CVS version? (but be 
warned: it changed a lot!)
