You should upgrade to the latest stable release 0.9.11

Virtual rows require that you specify the number of rows with the 'rows' 
keyword. Further, you have to specify the 'scroll' and 'turn' values. 
See the documentation on the lcd4linux homepage.

If it still doesn't work for you, just post your config file here, and 
the output of 'lcd4linux -Fvv', then we will be able to help you.
