Hi Daniel, > Thanks heaps for replying. I don't have any Wire.* entries in > lcd4linux.conf. I soldered EN to INIT and RS to AUTOFD because the manual > said that was the default. Does that mean that I actually have to put in > Wire.* entries too? No, you don't have to, if you follow the default. But you are not using the default: "Enable" should be "Strobe" Which manual are you talking about? Maybe there's a glitch in the Documentation. In the meantime I had a look at the datasheet you sent me. You did connect like the following: Display Parport 1 (DB7) 9 (DB7) 2 (DB6) 8 (DB6) 3 (DB5) 7 (DB5) 4 (DB4) 6 (DB4) 5 (DB3) 5 (DB3) 6 (DB2) 4 (DB2) 7 (DB1) 3 (DB1) 8 (DB0) 2 (DB0) 16 (EN) 1 (Strobe) 17 (RS) 14 (AutoFD) This should work without any Wire.* entries. If you want to stay with your wiring (Enable=Init), you should specify this line: Wire.ENABLE Init Another possible reason for this errors could be that your display needs +5V as a "high" signal, but yopur parport delivers 3.3V only. bye, Michael -- Michael Reinelt Tel: +43 676 3079941 Geisslergasse 4 Fax: +43 316 692343 A-8045 Graz, Austria e-mail: re...@eu... |
