I don't know. But what you're making here is not exactly an lcd, but a 
circuit to control an lcd from serial (old version) or usb port. The 
displays they are controlling are HD44780 compatible. lcd4linux is 
capable of controlling such displays on its own, you have to connect 
them to the parallel port.
