The good news: There will be a way to do this in the future.

lcd4linux is currently in a phase of major redesign. Part of this
redesign is a new feature called 'plugin', which allows you to call a
user-space program, and it's output will be displayed.

This plugin could be a simpel shell (or perl or whatever) script, which
counts the number of leases.

The bad news: redesign takes its time....
