Hi, I have been running 0.10.0 for a couple of years with my CF634 v2.0 quite happily. However, I recently tried 0.10.1 RC2, and I am having problems with the display being almost unreadable. I had problems before (with 0.10.0) in that the v2.0 634 needs a 5-second delay during initialization; I'm not sure if this is the same problem or not. Did the delay paramater/option ever get added into the code? (emails from Herbert Rosmanith quoted below) It is as if the contrast is WAY off, and it is only slightly readable at a large angle away from directly facing the LCD. The restriction comes from the fact that control and data signals share the same bits (signals are 8 bit wide), If I allow them to get mixed, I'd have to resize the data type to 16 bit, and declare the lower 8 as data lines and the upper 8 as control lines. This would require massive rewrite of the parport abstraction layer, and probably a rewrite of all parport drivers. bye, Michael -- Michael Reinelt <re...@eu...> http://home.pages.at/reinelt GPG-Key 0xDF13BA50 ICQ #288386781 |

Hi Michael and others, someone wanted to connect 4 displays at once, but it didn't work. See here: http://www.linuxforen.de/forums/showthread.php?t=3D235915 The problem is in drv_HD_goto(int row, int col), file drv_HD44780.c, lin= e = 839. What I've seen is that this plugin uses fprintf (STDERR, "blah") to report errors. These messages will silently disappear when running as a daemon. One really should use the error(), info() and debug() functions lcd4linux provides... bye, Michael -- Michael Reinelt <re...@eu...> http://home.pages.at/reinelt GPG-Key 0xDF13BA50 ICQ #288386781 |

I've a running version here, but even no time to send it to the developer of lcd4linux. Stefan Kuhne |

I just experienced another crash when the mpd side closes the connection and the error handling code does some null pointer dereferences. I revised the patch to gracefully handle losing connections. It still prints a lot of errors, but the screen will end up blank after a minute and when mpd comes back up, it works again. Robert |

Hi, while testing mpd support in lcd4linux, I encountered a program abort because of an illegal free() operation. This was caused by the attempt to free() a char[] on the stack (artist, title and album functions). While I had a look over the code, I also saw some memleaks in the other functions (elapsedTime and friends) and a buffer overflow issue for sprintf. The attached patch against r789 in the 0.10.1 branch should fix the issues. Regards, Robert |
