Hi,

first thanks for nice effort and driver. I have also done some work
for LCD but mostly connected to gpio lines not for par port, usb ....

I take a look to drivers and for me it would be nice to separate a bus
where LCD is connected from display code. e.g. for hd44780
driver you have some parport dependencies and I also see some patch to
add this controller working with gpio.

I can imagine some collaboration on coding level.

Hi,

what kind of platform are you interested in and want to support?
Separating the parport part from the hd44780 part is indeed
an interesting point but it depends on a great deal on the
hardware you want to connect the display.

I would like to separate bus platform from driver code and then anybody
could use hd44780 connected to USB, parport, gpio ....
Similar like is done for other drivers. I'll try to think about and propose some
way how to do this. Similar thing is done for soc-alsa you have separate machine
code, driver code and codec code. And the reuse is a point ;)
