In lazarus 1.4.4: Create a new project, then in project options / Compiler options / Build modes:Create Debug and Release modes.
Select Debug mode.
Drop a TLazAutoUpdate component into the form
Compile and Run
Close the form
Result: 1 unfreed memory blocks: 52
