I got around to learning the Launchy plugin API and wrote something simple for fun. It will index one's processes and utilize taskkill.exe to terminate any of them by process name. This is equivalent of:
taskkill.exe /F /IM <processname>
killy [tab] notepad.exe
All instances of notepad will be terminated (most likely...taskkill can be a finicky beast)
It basically is like a taskkill action made in Runner, but it has the advantage of the list of processes.
Request and comments are appreciated. Customizeable, dynamic whitelist is on the TODO's (right now, it has a static whitelist of some processes I thought were important).
Extract the zip to your launchy root directory.
This is great! Absolutely love that it knows about the processes. Good idea with the whitelist, too.
Well then...apparently XP Home doesn't have taskkill.exe...so this doesn't work on my Eee PC... Hmmm....
Just d/led taskkill.exe from http://members.ziggo.nl/gigajosh/2005/05/taskkillexe.html and threw it in c:\windows\system32\ and everything's peachy now.
Unfortunately, following the link currently shows that goodguygeeks.com has been disabled. Can we get this uploaded to a more reliable forum?
i happened to have a backup on my computer and i uploaded it to zshare. it will only last 60 days since the last download. but its better than nothing i suppose.
When using Killy to end an executable with spaces in the filename, it does not work. When trying to kill "Product Bulletin.exe", it gives the following error in cmd:
ERROR: Invalid argument/option - 'Bulletin.exe'.
Type "TASKKILL /?" for usage.
Any hope for a Killy-Version which is compatible with the new Launchy versions? :)
Any 2.0 plugins should be compatible with Launchy 2.5.
i tried it again and after a catalog rescan i now can use Killy.
Even though the Icon of Killy is not shown, the functionality seems to be okay.
Thanks for your help :)
Forgot to copy the Killy icon - all good now :)
Direct link that won't go down in a few days:
Can you also create one that doesn't use taskkill.exe /F /IM <processname>, but instead taskkill.exe /IM <processname>.
That way you won't have to fear for your data and memory leaks (which is quite handy if you kibernate your computer a lot)
If I try to kill a process, WinXP says "Windows cannot find 'Killy.killy'…." ?
Launchy 2.5.0, Win XP pro. Any idea?
Could somebody please re-host killy somewhere? I've searched everywhere - Google, torrents, usenet, and the fileshare sites. Thought I found it but the zip only had the icon.
Here it is:

Am I missing something? Basically I downloaded the .dll I put it in my plugins folder for launchy. Launchy lists it in the plugins after I restarted launchy. I type in killy in launchy and nothing comes up? I type kill….. nothing comes up?
You seriously need a readme file on how to use this plugin inside the folder. I have been messing with it for 30 minutes and made 0 progress. How do you use this? Typing in killy doesn't bring up killy
Figured out you had to rebuild your catalog for it to work. Some directions next time would be awesome… thnx.
I just put killy.dll in the plugins folder and the main folder where launchy.exe is. I killed the Launchy process then re-launched Launchy then Rebuilt Catalog. Typing 'killy' then hitting left Tab key does nothing. Any thoughts on why killy is not working? Thank you in advance!
