Dear Csaba, Nope, we don't really work on this anymore; 2010 was the last update! Although that should be a doable change in the lexer and you're welcome to make a contribution. Dear Developers, I love your package, it helps an awful lot in creating exam problems for my students. I see that the last update of the webpage was in 2010. Is the package still 'alive'? For example, it would be great to have other than one-letter variables... Hi Ryan, Most open source software packages aren't programs that you just run on your computer. To make LaTeXCalc work you need to compile the source code into a program from a command line. On Mac OS X you can get to a terminal window from Applications->Utilities->Terminal. We don't recommend trying this on Windows if this process is new to you. Here are some links to tutorials that may help. They should apply to either Linux or Mac. You might need to do some other reading to understand them fully. http://www.ee.surrey.ac.uk/Teaching/Unix/unix7.html (you may also want to consult the previous tutorials to get up to speed) http://www.codecoffee.com/tipsforlinux/articles/27.html http://tldp.org/LDP/LG/current/smith.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compiler may be dense at first but it may help explain what's going on. You may be able to use LaTeXCalc with your website, but it will probably be a struggle because we've designed it for running locally. How on earth does this work? I don’t know what you mean by this. I was also wondering how to use this in ShareLaTeX.com To install, simply run './configure', 'make', 'make test', 'make install'. This would make my physics homework much more pleasant. Thanks. Yours truly, Ryan Dikdan |

Hi Malte, Would you send us a sample file that demonstrates the bug and also what output you were expecting? Hello Wojciech, I claim responsibility for your problem. When copying the man file I assumed you would have the man1 directory (bad me, I know). I added the bug to the tracker and will fix it as soon as I can. On an unrelated note, if you could give me some feedback on the package, that would be greatly appreciated. How easy is it to use and understand, are there any features you would like to see, things like that. We rarely hear from users, so most of the development stems from what Berkeley and I want. Thank you, Steven On Thu, Nov 17, 2011 at 12:31 AM, Berkeley Churchill <ber...@at...> wrote: > Hi Wojtek, > > Thank you for your e-mail. Hi Wojtek, Thank you for your e-mail. As you may have noticed we have not done much development on this project in a while. There's probably a problem somewhere in our autoconf setup. Next time we package a new release we'll look into this. I hope everything else is working well! Hello, during the installation of Your superb package I have occured a tiny litte bug: It could not create man page directory ( /usr/local/man/man1) and copy latexcalc.1 there so man page was not available (program itself had been installed ofcourse) here's sample output from incomplete installation: wojtek@mustang:~/Pulpit/latexcalc-1.0.1$ sudo make install cd ./src; make make[1]: Wejście do katalogu `/home/wojtek/Pulpit/latexcalc-1.0.1/src' make[1]: `../build/latexcalc' jest aktualne. make[1]: Opuszczenie katalogu `/home/wojtek/Pulpit/latexcalc-1.0.1/src' /usr/bin/install -c ./build/latexcalc /usr/local/bin/latexcalc /usr/bin/install -c ./doc/man/latexcalc.1 /usr/local/man/man1/latexcalc.1 /usr/bin/install: nie można utworzyć zwykłego pliku `/usr/local/man/man1/latexcalc.1': Nie ma takiego pliku ani katalogu make: *** [install] Błąd 1 It's in Polish, but last lines say: /usr/bin/install: could not create regular file `/usr/local/man/man1/latexcalc.1': No such file or directory make: *** [install] Error 1 So I manually created required directory (/usr/local/man/ was already there, but without /man1 inside, so: #mkdir /usr/local/man/man1/ ) Did over the installation process and output seemed more friendly: wojtek@mustang:~/Pulpit/latexcalc-1.0.1$ sudo make install cd ./src; make make[1]: Wejście do katalogu `/home/wojtek/Pulpit/latexcalc-1.0.1/src' make[1]: `../build/latexcalc' jest aktualne. make[1]: Opuszczenie katalogu `/home/wojtek/Pulpit/latexcalc-1.0.1/src' /usr/bin/install -c ./build/latexcalc /usr/local/bin/latexcalc /usr/bin/install -c ./doc/man/latexcalc.1 /usr/local/man/man1/latexcalc.1 After that man page was available My distro is Ubuntu 10.10 32 bit, I had installed both bison and flex before installing so it wasn't the problem. Maybe it was totally my fault, but I think that simple piece of code assuring that mentioned directory exist and creating it if not could be included in further versions of the package. Regards, Wojtek |

Nope. Java is too different a technology from what we are using and it would be far too much work to port it.
