I've made very few changes to LANdialler for a long time now, primarily because it just worked. However, it no longer works out of the box with the later versions of Python due to the absorption of the XML-RPC module into the Python standard library. This is the first thing that will be fixed. LANdialler allows any computer (Windows, Linux, etc.) on a small LAN to control and share a modem attached to a *nix server. It is typically used with IP masquerading or NAT on a Linux router to provide a house or small office with shared, on-demand, Internet access.

This is primarily a bugfix release - if you use LANdialler we recommend you upgrade. Note that you do not need to upgrade the client. Read the release notes for further details.

GTK+ is now supported, and is the default GUI toolkit on Unix systems! A couple of minor bugs have also been squashed in the client and server.

The whole system has had a complete overhaul, including full multi-user support and a fully re-designed user interface (see the screenshot on http://landialler.sourceforge.net/\). Plugins for other GUI toolkits are now possible - GTK+ is already under way.

If you've got version 0.2 we strongly recommend that you upgrade.

landialler enables all the computers on a network to control a single modem attached to a Unix server.

landialler is particularly useful if the Unix server is configured to route packets between the Internet and the workstations (e.g. via IP masquerading), providing all the workstations with Internet access (and control of the modem).

The first version is now working.

The files need tidying up a bit (inserting copyright, GPL, etc.), then I'll upload them into CVS and make source packages for download.
