Yeah I got that, my reply was ambiguously formulated, sorry.
I think the man page should mention something like:
"When in vbr mode, using -q0, -q1, -q2, -q3, -q4 or no -q at all will
result in the same settings and hence, identical files."
Now back to some actual problems, sorry for the spam!
