LAMBDA version 1.0.0

I have finally finished incorporating the changes to the bootstrapping functions (see the 6-15-08 news item) into the main distribution and revised the code to the point where I think it is stable enough to call it "version 1.0.0". LAMBDA should now be considered in stable release, and no longer in beta.
