We introduced the drop-down lists of existing metadata values as a result of feature #3480500 and the subsequent bug fix #3542460, but this feature seems to have regressed. When I tried adding a post from template in Aurora there were no drop-down lists.
Confirmed on Aurora, but I can't replicate on my trunk VM

Apologies, I *can't* replicate this on Aurora/
Could you let me know which Notebook / template you were using, please?
http://aurora.labtrove.org/preload_metadata/45/Making_black_tea.html gives you the notebook and template. I clicked Use Template, expecting each of the four value boxes to have a drop-down menu with the values I'd predefined, but all of them contained only the prompt.
(Caveat) I'm 95% sure this is what I used to do, but it is quite a while since I've played with preloading. I'm looking at it now in preparation for the metadata meeting.
Just to clarify for the sake of this ticket, we're talking about the provision of existing metadata values when generating a post from a template which uses a similar, but different, editor to that for New / Edit post. The page in question never had this pre-populated dropdown (but should). So, this is technnically not a regression.
