#6 Ctl serial numbers sequence lost

I am running two instances of l2tpd 0.63. After the
tunnel has
been established for some time (varying from a few
minutes
to almost 1 hour), I get repeated messages:

check_control: Received out of order control packet on
tunnel 17767 (2 != 3)
handle_packet: bad control packet!
check_control: Received out of order control packet on
tunnel 17767 (2 != 3)
handle_packet: bad control packet!
check_control: Received out of order control packet on
tunnel 17767 (2 != 3)
handle_packet: bad control packet!

(where the indicated numbers are always 'n != n+1').

and then the tunnel dies.

control_xmit: Maximum retries exceeded for tunnel
17767. Closing.
