Hi,
I use kweather all the time, and for the most
part, I really enjoy it. There is just one problem
though. Frequently when i return from classes or from
work there will be on the average of 10 dialogue boxes
complaining about not being able to connect to the
weather host. These popups are annoying, and
shouldn't be nessicary. There should be another way
of letting the user know that the information couldnt
be retreived, and that the information on the applet
may be out of date. Perhaps just overlaying an icon
ontop of the normal clouds? After a certain ammount
of time passes the icon can change to show that the
information is too out of date, perhaps changing the
icon back to the question mark.
Also, if the question mark is displayed, the user
should be able to click on the button to refresh the
information, or right click and choose "Retreive Info
Now".
And one last thing, the applet just passes its right
click to the panel, which is IMO, a confusing
practice. It makes me think that selecting properties
will bring up the properties of the weather applet,
not the panel. Wouldnt it be alot less confusing to
just have an empty menu? Idealy the menu would
actually have some items, like retreive now,
preferences, and such, but at least with an empty
menu, the user wont be confused when the preferences
for the panel comes up.
