Hmm - just been looking over the kUML code.
Excellent! Really a great looking UML tool.
Except the save function :-).
Anyway - tried to use the CVS repository -there doesn't
seem to be a lot in there. Are you guys actively developing?
And will you make it available via CVS?
A new release with a working save function would be cool
too.
Anyway - good work!

Ah - ok - I just went to your home page and discovered
you're redesigning the system. Pity :-). So close to useful.
It'd be nice if you made the kuml_old repository active
so that others might finish the necessary persistence code
to make it a useful tool in itself.

Nothing is blocking somebody to continue the work on kuml's IO part to enable loading/saving of models. But as there is too much to finish
before you get a fully functional tool you'll have to ask you the question if it's worth to work on an abandomed design that will be replaced by a new one.
As the internal structures of kuml will heavily change a lot of code couldn't be reused without the need of massive changes.
So it would be better to contribute already to the new version.
There will past a lot of time before we can release a working version of the new kuml so be patient ;-)

This has been a fairly dead end for some time now it appears. Are we likely to see some reorganized code here or should we take the old one, for further development?

Hi, there are new (organized) sources in cvs. Take a look in the module "kuml". The sources are divided into the gui and lib part. I'm actually working only on the new interactive editor for the diagrams. Its still not finished but the design works and there is a rough basic implementation of the editor core. You can edit some simple graphical objects like rectangles or lines. Gerard and Chris are working on the component library and the CORBA based UML repository. Further development should be done on the new sources. But there is still much to do. The new version of kuml will be much more advanced than the old one!
Bye

BTW: You're right, the development speed is quite low at the moment. I hope that will change as soon as we get an executable that provides something to see and to touch on the screen.
The problem is that there is nobody that takes care on the gui application. I'm just working on the editor, not directly on the gui.
