[Ktexshell-announce] /usr/lib/libjpeg.la not found

Dear folks,
I am trying to compile ktexshell-0.4.0 but doing make it gives me an error, 
/usr/lib/libjpeg.la not found. I have installed libjpeg.so.62 and 
libjpeg.so.62.0.0, using kernel 2.4.2-22; I don't know where download this 
lib; could you help me?
