Krpmbuilder is a great program, but it should be revised.

There should be a dialogue where you can simply select
a tar.gz/tar.bz2. Then Krpmbuilder could extract all
information from the file it provides
(Name,Version,Readme,Changelog) and write it into the
information fields.
Krpmbuilder could copy the source to
/usr/src/packages/SOURCE (or whatever).
The fields like Release or Distribution should have a
list-box (because I change this text only from time to
time), 'Distribution' could be self checked.
'Group' should provide a tree-view dialogue with all
the nice selections (like kpackage)
'prefix' - is it a KDE program? then /opt/kde3 else
/usr (for SuSE or /usr/local) (check the distribution)
'Processor' needs more targets.
With a ./configure --help you get some information for
the configure options - a textbox with this would be
helpful.
The textbox of the build process always shows the last
line of the building. If you try reading someting at
the top of the list, you won't do that for long,
because the last line ...
Als also there could be more options to configure
Krpmbuilder (e.g. whether you want the listed features
or not, or if you want to start the program as root (I
always use 'kdesu krpmbuilder')

And so on and so on...

I hope this program is still maintained, in any case
thanks for this nice little program that makes building
from source very easy!!!
