#90 OSX/ppc - no initial inventory items and can't talk in shops

The latest version KQ-20080202b.dmg works, with the exception of when
you’re starting out you don’t get a knife and a cloth robe, just 200
gold pieces. Hmm, that's different, but okay I'll just buy some
armor/weapons in the next town. But then when you try to buy anything
at a shop in the next town, either they’re out of everything, or you
just can’t talk to them for some reason.
