Go to the menu, Insert, "Characters and Symbols" and look at the lists - several charcters frequently used in many contexts are not available, e.g. – or ⇒ (Right arrow) or ∀ (for all). I suggest to implement one of the following suggestions, ranging from IMHO user-friendliest to IMHO user-unfriedliest but easiest-to-implement solutions
1) add new category "user defined" and an interface where the user can add & sort & remove the desired characters by entering the unicode code or HTML named entities.
2) add new categories "Math" and "HTML named entities" containing the according symbols
3) add at least the writing symbols common in usual word processors (e.g. – or ⇒) to current "common symbols" list as they are expected to be available in any text writing application.

3) can be implemented within 1 minute: Open
\KompoZer\chrome\comm.jar\content\editor\EdInsertChars.js
and search
const symbol =
and add
–⇒
for – and ⇒ or
–→⇒⇔∀∃∧∨∈∉∑≈≠≤≥⊂⊆
or the above mentioned and several arrows & math symbols.

PS: Tested with version 0.8b3 (20100301). This RFE has been posted in http://forum.nvudev.org/viewtopic.php?p=4454#4454
