1. loading a file with unspecified charset doesn't assume the default charset, but iso-01, and this value can't be changed in the view|character encoding menu.

2. new files are allways being created in iso-01, shile my default charset is the default for saving. thus, a conversion is being made, but iso-01 doesn't have the characters, thus the result is a ?????? content :( .

3. a proof of a broken thing: the contents view|character encoding suddenly becomes gray (disabled).

i'm using debian linux testing. the problem appears on either your deb file, or the one i built myself.

btw, here's attached a diff anybody can apply to make a compliant debian package like the one you provide from kompozer source. the one i've compiled seems to run better with add-ons.
