How and where to find additional information and instructions

First and foremost, of course, are the official KOMA-Script manuals, which are distributed as part of KOMA-Script. After installing KOMA-Script via the package manager of the TeX distribution used, these are normally also available on your computer as scrguide-en.pdf (English) and scrguide-de.pdf (German). It is only when using TeX Live from a Linux package that the manuals are not installed. In this case, you should change the settings of the Linux package manager so that the documentation is also installed. Of course, you can always use one of the manuals that can be found via the link above. However, you will then have to check yourself what changes have been made to the KOMA-Script version you have installed.

An extended version of the manuals has been published in German as a book by Lehmanns Media. An eBook edition of the book is also available. Make sure you always buy the latest edition! This is currently the 7th edition. Some of the additions can be seen by clicking on “Blick ins Buch” in the table of contents. Some of the additions can also be recognized by the corresponding references in the free manual (see previous section).

There are still some articles on the pages of the former KOMA-Script Documentation Project. However, most of these are now out of date and only available in German. Their relevance is therefore limited.

The same applies to the various articles in Die TeXnische Komödie. Nevertheless, it may be worth browsing through the archive. Even if one or two things are now easier with KOMA-Script or individual incompatibilities occur, such as the renaming of all \if... LaTeX commands to \If..., you will still find many ideas and solutions.

Of course, this wiki is also a source of information. It should be noted once again that the wiki is available in both English and German.

In addition, you can find countless articles on KOMA-Script in relevant LaTeX forums such as TeX.SX, TopAnswers.

Developers can find additional information about the implementation of KOMA-Script in the sources. If you want this in PDF form, it is usually best to copy either the code of the release (from version 3.37) or the code of the current development and then use l3build doc. Further information on l3build can be found in its manual.

Please note that KOMA-Script is currently undergoing major changes with regard to the contents of the overall package. Various parts have now been spun off as independent packages. These packages now have their own instructions. You can find the development and documentation of the spun off packages on github.
