hsd uses the Gira Homeserver KO-Gateway (in German language, cp. http://www.dacom-homeautomation.de/content/addons/hs_monitor.pdf page 12ff)

During start up, the program establishes and initializes the connection to the GIRA Homeserver KO-Gateway. From this moment, group address (GA) updates are received.

hsd provides parts of the eibd TCP/IP interface (cp. http://www.auto.tuwien.ac.at/~mkoegler/eib/sdkdoc-0.0.5.pdf page 105ff). This shall simplify the usage of hsd e.g. in connection with fhem (www.fhem.de). Currently, simeple on / off messages can be sent from fhem to KNX.
In addition, on / off messages from KNX are received by fhem. And corresponding devices are created resp. updated.

fhem.cfg is simply configured to use eibd:

define KNX TUL eibd:localhost 1.1.249

During hsd start up, a configuration .ini file is created in the ../etc folder. This file should be easy to edit.
