I'm here at NLUUG with some of the KDE e.V. members, namely Frank, Claudia, Sebas and Adriaan. We were talking about KMess, other IM clients and telepathy. I explained the thoughts we had about it, and after talking about it, they came with the idea in the subject.
What really surprised me about this: they said that if we organised something like this, KDE e.V. would be *more than happy* to sponsor 100% of it! It's true: flights, stay, other costs (probably not food). I asked, and even Adam could come all the way from Australia, it was no problem!
What we have to do if we want something like this, is first pick a date. They said one weekend of talk about Telepathy would be good; I then thought, if the tickets are going to be bought anyway, we might as well make it a week of developers' sprint. The second is picking a location: if we have problems getting a good place to do this, KDE e.V. can help us find it, and they will sponsor it too. The third would be choosing who would come, and the fourth would be making a complete balance of expected costs. Then, KDE e.V. would consider the plans, see if they make sense, and if so, sponsor them.
I think Nijmegen is a good place for this, as it seems to be in the center of where I, Diederik, Ruben and maybe Pano lives. Valerio and Adam, and other people who would like to come, can fly in through Schiphol or Düsseldorf, Germany. Furthermore I think I can get locations at the Radboud university for our use, and public transport in Nijmegen is very good. However if any of you have a better idea, let me know. As for the date; somewhere in the second half of december sounds good to me at the moment but we should all pick some preferred dates, or something, and I'll create a Doodle / date chooser.
So what do you think?!
