I have looked at new plasma interface and got some ideas.

Using GPSD daemon you can get nice plasma applet with compas now. And with speedometer and teratrip soon. This is 0.2 version of plasmoid. It is functional. GPSD must be started on the current box (http://gpsd.berlios.de/). While it is beta version, I do not build any packages .

with map calibration - you calibrate raster map and generate geotiff image.

Initial release of kmapexplorer. No it is developed under QT4.2. When KDE4 will be more stable extend it to fit KDE.

Release include geotiff viewer that shows you way points and tracks. Also added bunch of scripts to convert oziexporer map project to valid GeoTIFF image. Import GPX tracks and way points. Convert ozf2 image files to tiff.
