#7 problems when strated from inittab

I use the following entry in inttab to start kma:

dp5:23:respawn:/opt/sbin/kma -c /opt/etc/kma.conf
>/dev/null 2>/dev/null

Init writes the following error message:

Oct 31 17:03:52 manicminer init: Id "dp5" respawning
too fast: disabled for 5 minutes

No log file is written to /var/log/kma.log.
