I've some suggestions about other input methods, too.
How about painting a keyboard so people can click with the
mouse on the right key.
Another idea is to be able to play the correct note on an
e-guitar via line-in. Or displaying a guitar like on http://www.fretmaster.com .
As well I would like to hide the note buttons because the
give me additional aid to find the correct note or the
possibility to shuffle them.
Additionally I miss notes with accidentals. An option to have
more than one notes displayed and enter them one after one
from left to right with accidentals would be nice.
