The rewrite I'm working on is still underway, and will be called KSmoothDock 4. Apart from that, we're all welcome to join the KSD team. The point of the merger is that the fork didn't have a reason to exist any more since the KSD developpement was active again. Hope this klears things up a little. David |

Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Please see http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/mailinglist_en.html for registration to this mailing list. _______________________________________________________________________ Benno Luthiger Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich 8092 Zurich Mail: benno.luthiger(at)id.ethz.ch _______________________________________________________________________ |

First of all, no I'm not dead, and I haven't abandoned the project, actually I've been working on a ground up rewrite with loadable module support that should hit CVS within 2-3 weeks (not including modules though :-() Any how... Viet has been in touch and is keen to start developing again, and has proposed that we merge the 2 projects to speed up development. I'm in favor of this, as an emacs/xemacs split just doesn't make sense in our position, the more we are the better. OTOH, I'd like your input on what you think should be done. Also I'd like to know what you'd like the name of the new project to be (KlearDock or KSmoothDock or even something else). Regards David |

If you found the page on the systray protocol, then it's for adding an icon too the tray, but I'm currently considering hacking the kicker source a bit to see if I can get something going. Is it possible to add a systemtray to kleardock? I just got it installed and really like it. If I could add a system tray im apt to drop the kde bar entirely. I've been looking at the kde docs and see KSystemTray, but I can't tell if its for adding an icon to an existing systemtray or making a new one. Adding one to program didn't seem to have any effect whatsoever. -- Jason Freidman <ja...@co...> |

Just to say that the KlearDock CVS now has an autohide feature in it that 'more or less) works, I merged Alfonso's patch in this evening. There's a bit more work to do on the esthetics side, but it's ready. Chances are that they'll be another file release in one or two weeks time, but the CVS is pretty stable as it is, so please check it out. David |

Just to say that I've submitted a couple of bug fixes to CVS. |

=2D----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I posted this before to kde-look.org but I'm reposting it here since I got = no=20 answer from my previous post. I would like to have autohide feature like in kasbar so it would slide on=20 screen when mouse cursor is at the bottom(or other location) of the screen. I have ~12" screen with 1024x768 resolution, so this is a must. =20 Also, KlearDock segfaults if smalliconsize equals bigiconsize. =20 So in line 1224 of kleardock.cpp change: if (iwSmall > iwBig) to: if (iwSmall >=3D iwBig) =20 that should fix it. =20 I tried to put those to same size because I don't like icon zooming :P Keep up the good work, looks promising(I'll be using it all the time after(= and=20 if) you get autohide to kleardock). =2D --=20 Jorma Tuomainen =2D----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.3 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFAF9aO/1adQH4Px6ARApjEAJ0YTjS8AVJSClOK41MSNeSAWmEG8QCfbS/p 8xYwX040AZLBgzF0IfQsQ1E=3D =3DdGlv =2D----END PGP SIGNATURE----- |

(my computer (apt-)gets updates from the net every day, so there isn't a version number for that). Right now i'm using KDE3.1.5 on my system. i have one question too : did you or Sarah try to use Kleardock with my changes? your thoughts about it ? Shlomi. -- http://t2.technion.ac.il/~shlomil/ |

The files kleardock.h and kleardock.cpp are attached. Note 1: attached files are not patches but whole files - just add them to the source folder and replace the older ones, i couldn't diff to CVS for some reason, probabely server problem =\ ... sorry. Note 2: it crashes while zooming the last icon - i'll try to fix it later. Nice work, i really like the idea .. :) but the code is very messy IMO =\ needs a little cleanup.
