[Kile-devel] Alternative symbolview GUI

Hi all,

the current symbolview uses a lot of expensive desktop space.

Attached is a patch and a screenshot which replaces the old QToolBox with a 
slightly modfied KileWidget::Sidebar.
Now the mouse paths are shorter and one has much more space in the editor.

What do you think?

At first sight the new symbol bar seems to be too close to the side bar for my 
taste. I find it a bit hard to differentiate between all the different icons.

Maybe it's worth trying to see how it looks like if a combo box is used to 
select the symbol type?

Hi Michel,

yes everything is a bit small.

I'm not so convinced by a combo box because it sounds difficult to  
switch between different symbollists. And it gets difficult if you  
have many different symbollists (with many more lists we could add and  
users asking for multiple user lists).

I will have a try at the week end.
With the combo box and also with my inital approach. Getting bigger  
icons and adding a seperator line helps maybe a bit.
