Hi, I am not a very experienced user and I installed kubuntu 6.10 on my AMD64 computer yesterday. I used to have Suse10.1 and was using Kile happily for more than a year. Since I could not get a bin file, I downloaded the source file of 1.9.3. I followed the installation steps but when I executed ./configure I got: root@oyo-ev:/usr/local/Kile/kile-1.9.3# ./configure --prefix=/usr checking build system type... x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu checking host system type... x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu checking target system type... x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c checking for -p flag to install... yes checking whether build environment is sane... yes checking for gawk... no checking for mawk... mawk checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes checking for kde-config... /usr/bin/kde-config checking where to install... /usr (as requested) checking for style of include used by make... What am I suppose to do? How can I find a sane/clean cpp lib? :) Many thanks -- Osman Kemal Kadiroglu |

Anyway install g++ by running: sudo aptitude install gcc And try again. Btw, there is a Ubuntu package for Kile, but for version 1.9.1 only. best, Jeroen |

Thanks for your prompt reply Jeroen. I installed all the available gcc packages of ubuntu and the I did what you have told me. Unfortunately I could not install Kile. It could be that there is no g++ in /usr/bin, but there is a g++-4.0. In that case you will have to make a symlink in /usr/bin, but it is better to install the gcc default package. best, Jeroen |
