The CVS issue is a new one, but not unbelievable: Sourceforge changed
many things during my absense, and CVS may have been one of them.

The project is not dead, it is just in a state of suspended animation.
Latest news has just been posted to the kernelbook.sourceforge.net
homepage, but the short story is that MCP has left us to our own 
devices, so that means we can now proceed with a pure free-document
license.
