Nothing like giving feedback on your own work ;) ... latest news from ESR suggests the kernelbook will need to include a section on adding new options to the kernel using the CML2 configuration as well as through the legacy kbuild. Q: Should we even bother with kbuild? Perhaps just dismiss it quickly and concentrate on CML2? CML2 is not in the 2.4-test1 release and likely won't get into the kernel until 2.5 since verifying the new method against the nightmare tangle of kbuild will be a significant effort. Q: Where should the CML2 tutorial go? Into "Contributing to the Kernel" or into "Kernel Sources" ... or someplace else? There's not enough to it to fill a new chapter, but it will be a largish section within a chapter.
