File management: If there's a link to this topic, please point me to it. I've confused myself with files.
1. Old setup files: how many versions to keep. Also, they are in Downloads. Where is a better place to keep the needed ones.
2. Desktop icons: I once deleted one and had to restore it to open Keepass. I don't usually use the icons. What icons to keep; what to delete.
4. Current version filename: modifying the filename is working. For example, "MyKeepass.kdbx backup date 022924.kdbx". I named it this due to confusion over which version I was opening.The filename is useful. I know that I've backed it up on a stick, and the date done. Is that a problem; is there a better way.

I'm unfamiliar with Open Source apps but I've been using KeePass for years. Is KeePass a stand alone free app or is it owned by some monopoly like Google? If it's no longer supported, who has access to my password database?
