#190 Creating New KeePass Records

Alan Lemly

I have a couple of questions related to new KeePass record creation. I use the ctrl + I hotkey to start a new record but I'm not given an option to specify the Group I want it to go in. Do I have to make sure that group is selected on the left-side of the screen before initiating the new record? It would be nice to be able to choose the group as part of inputting the new record details.

Also, my old password program had some built-in fields for tracking credit card and bank account information such as account number, security code, expiration, etc. Does KeePass have anything similar or does the user have to create their own custom fields? Can you provide any details on how to do this?

Thanks so much for your help.

You need to select the group first.

KeePass V2 allows user defined fields and can import these from a CSV file exported from other password managers / made in a spreadsheet. See the help on the KeePass site.

    cheers, Paul
