I tried the 12/21/05 version of KeePass 1.04 beta.

COMMENTS):
1. The new dialog indeed lets you select an entry if
multiple entries match the current window when
pressing the global auto-type hotkey.

...While this works, it would be nice if the
software could remember the "index" of the
database entry rather than the URL. Then
when the HOT KEY is pressed, the "index"
could be used to re-index the database to
retrieve the desired data without
requiring a new dialog box.

2. Adding an option to open the database as
read-only mode is a good choice.

I would go one step further and give the user
an "option" stating what the default should be
(read-only or read-write).

...apparently the current beta version hasn't
yet implemented the "read-only" feature ...I
was able to change the database even though
the check box was checked.

3. The Menus are more logical.

Overall, nice improvements.

PLEASE CLEARIFY IN THE DOCUMENTATION:
(a) Are the database files for 1.03 and 1.04
interchangeable?
(b) Are the KeePass.ini files for 1.03 and 1.04
interchangeable?

This is George Z (username gzpops). I guess I created an
entry without first logging in. My error...

I get a debug error alot with the beta, but I've learned
    to ignore it.

    1. Sorry, I don't get this. When multiple entries match, the
dialog box always must be shown (otherwise you get the
behaviour as in 1.03). If the user has multiple entries for
one login site, how do you want to use indexes here? KeePass
cannot know in advance which entry to use.

    2. Of course you can change the database entries although
it's marked as read-only. Read-only means that you cannot
save the database under the same name. You always can save
the modified database under a different name using 'Save
    As'; this is intended.

A default read-only option isn't useful in my opinion. You
could just make the database file read-only using Explorer,
this would have the same effect...

    3. Great, thanks :)

    (a) + (b) I've added a new information page to the CHM
documentation file which details the database file
    compatibility.

    Thanks and best regards
    Dominik

Thanks for you reply. Perhaps I'm all wet, but let me
    clearify:

    (1) You said: "1. Sorry, I don't get this. When multiple
entries match, ...how do you want to use indexes here?
KeePass cannot know in advance which entry to use."

George: When the URL is double clicked, it brings up the
web site for that URL. Can't this "double click" also be
used to "save" the index of the entry of "multiple
entries" that was "double clicked"? The index could be
saved in a convenient place (like database.idx). Then when
the HOT KEY (Alt+Ctrl+A) is hit, no dialog box would have
to be displayed, just use the "saved" index to pick the
right entry. Of course, for this to work, the "saved"
index would have to be initialized every time KeePass is
opened and every subsequent double click to avoid "stale"
information and cleared after the HOT KEY is used.
SIDEBAR: By the way, if the HOT KEY can display the list
if entries in a dialog, couldn't some bogus program do the
same and "steal" the information (USERNAME & PASSWPORD)?
If so, would this dialog box be a security problem?

    (2) You said: "2. ...Read-only means that you cannot
save the database under the same name. ...You always can
save the modified database under a different name
using 'Save As'; this is intended."

George: You have a point. Maybe this is not as important
an issue as it first seemed.

Hmm, ok. Sounds interesting. I've moved this thread to the
    open feature requests.

    Thanks and best regards
