...and perhaps the Interface option should read:
"Close button (X) or (Ctrl+W) minimizes main window instead of terminating the application or file".

    I disagree. The 'File' -> 'Close' command (Ctrl+W) should just close the currently active file, not the whole window. Most applications behave like this (e.g. Visual Studio, LibreOffice, Adobe Reader, ...).

    If you want to close the window, use 'File' -> 'Exit' (shortcut e.g. Alt+F4).
