I'm trying to synchronize Keepass 2.26 with my Dropbox account but failing. I've followed the help file to the letter, as far as I can see and don't understand the trouble. I get an error message 'The file signature is invalid. Either the file.....' This seems to be a non specific error message as I can type an obviously wrong Dropbox account password and still get the same error. I do not have the Dropbox program installed on my M/C.

The error message means that KeePass is trying to open some file, but it " invalid. Either the file isn't a KeePass database file at all or it is corrupted". Are you sure KeePass is trying to trying to open a KeePass database? If you are seeing the 'Enter Master Key' dialog the file path should be listed under 'Enter Master Key'.

I do not have the Dropbox program installed on my M/C.

The easiest way to sync a KeePass database on Dropbox is to install the Dropbox program, and sync to the KeePass database file in the local Dropbox directory, or do the same using the sync trigger described at

I've followed the help file to the letter...

A complete description of how you are trying to sync would be helpful, including what help instructions you are using. There are several possible ways to configure KeePass to sync e.g. via a third-party plugin or using the recommended Dropbox sync trigger at or using the general sync instructions at or some other way.(?)

      Thank you for the reply.
      I'm following this,

      I create my database file.
I manually upload to Dropbox to files/apps/keepass2/myfilename.kdbx.
I then go to keepass, file>synchronize>synchronize with url.
In the dialogue box I copy and paste the address in with /myfilename.kdbx added (full address using http: etc).
The user name and password are the ones for dropbox.

I'll have to try and follow some of the other links you gave me.

You can not access Dropbox using the ioconnect option. Try one of the other methods.

Dropbox does the work for you via its client. All you need to do is load the file from the local Dropbox directory.
You need to sync KeePass files outside Dropbox:

    cheers, Paul
