Is there a way to turn on this feature? I could not find it.

If it doesn't exist, it would be a good addition.

As a quick explanation, find-as-you-type search initially produces a list of all entries matching the first typed character, and reduces the list per each additional typed character, as soon as they are typed.

There is a QuickSearch plugin that sounds like it does what you want, but I haven't tried it.

KeePass doesn't have this built-in because it requires all data to be stored in memory unencrypted. This defeats KeePass internal security. There is also a performance penalty.

If this is not possible by design, then how does the QuickSearch plugin does it? Any ideas?

I assume the plug-in asks KeePass to decrypt all data, or it takes a snap shot. Maybe it doesn't search passwords or other secured data. Don't know without looking at the code or asking the developer.
