Would like to run Keepass2.23 on 3 PCs to access only one database file(not simultaneously)-and keep the file in a network folder. The folder can only be accessed by the 3 users. Is this possible by installing the software on all 3 pcs and saving and opening the database from the folder?
Do I have to have a mapped drive?

Yes, accessing the password database from a central network drive works fine.

Do I have to have a mapped drive?

No, KeePass understands UNCs, so a mapped drive is unnecessary.

If any device is ever removed from the network, or if there is a chance of simultaneous access, then a KeePass synchronization trigger can be useful.

Also, make sure you backup your database.
