I'm a long time user of Keepass under linux (ubuntu 11.04). I've never experienced any issues but recently I've been unable to paste any data (ie password) into chrome from keepass. It works perfectly under firefox, and this makes the whole thing really weird. Besides I've also tried with a 0 extension chrome profile so there is no extension causing this problem.
The only place in which paste works is the address bar 0_0. If I want to paste a password in a password field I must first paste it on a notepad (or in the adddress bar) then recopy it and paste in the password field.
It really annoying…any ideas?
I have the same problem. It would be nice to know if it is a security feature of keepass or an issue of chrome.
This is a chrome / ubuntu issue, not something KeePass does.
I have the same problem. I am using 18.0.1025.151 (Developer Build 130497 Linux) Built on Ubuntu 10.10, running on LinuxMint 10
I also have this problem on Ubuntu 12.04 with Chrome 18.0.1025.162.
One way around it is to paste the password in the address bar, then cut/paste it from there into the desired website.
Beware that Chrome will usually send anything you type (or paste) into the address bar to the Google servers (to provide their autocomplete service). It's up to you whether you trust them to look after that data when it's in transit and stored on their servers - I've never investigated the details myself since I use Chrome so rarely.
is there a workaround?
Same problem here :-\
Google Chrome 18.0.1025.162 m
Anyone a workaround?
anyone help? please!!
I can confirm that this problem still exists on Ubuntu 12.04 just released.
Here is what I find strange: I can copy username and password from Keepass and paste it into a text editor. If I then manually copy and paste (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V) from the text editor to Chrome it works. Just not directly.
I'm also having this issue. Can't paste the password into chrome without pasting it to gedit or some other program first. One weird thing about it that I've noticed, the Keepass autotype functionality does still work and will type the username/password into the browser as expected.
With chrome 19 the bug has been fixed.
(chrome 19 now is only in beta version)
Thanks for the tip on chrome 19!
I switched over to the latest beta and can cut/paste again as normal.
Still using Chrome 18.0.1025.168 m but the problem is away
