ProtocolError: The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.: System.Net.HttpWebResponse
Not troubel it did not work foe some of the sites. However: Do I really need to see this (does not even include a hint wich site?
Getting the same error - any help would be appreciated - it has worked great in the past. Does it have anything to do with a database move to dropbox?
Simple Check: Add a "www." or even "http://www." to the URL.
And remember to fill in the right field! Not only the title (which most likely is the same as the URL), but also really fill in the URL-field!!
With both in mind, that worked out for me…
Version 1.7.1 will use a URL found in the title field if the URL field is not populated.
You can download it here:
It's important that we show that there was a problem. I agree that the reporting of exactly which entries were affected would be very helpful but it's just too much work at the moment (and has been for many years, although I'll gladly accept suitable pull requests on github if anyone ever implements this feature).
It won't have anything to do with where your database is stored.
I just installed this plugin and I'm having problems with some URLs also. Here's one that I had a problem with:
I tried changing it to:
and neither of those worked. This leads me to think that the problem is not always caused by missing information in the URL field.
@Woody, you're right. The usual reason for this error is that the website does not have a favicon (as is the case with citibank.com).
Sometimes new ways of loading favicons might be used on some websites but that is rare because that would mean that those favicons are not visible to older web browsers either.
This plugin seems to need a standard domain to work. So If you have something like http://account.site.com it will fail because it can't do that subdomain. This is a bit of a limitation because most of the time we will use the url field for the login page url.
As a workaround, just enter the standard url including http:// and then download the favicons. Afterwards change your url field back to the login page of the website you want to login at.
